Almost eight years after exiting the top job at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, John W. Thiel is joining the ranks of ex-wirehouse leaders starting independent firms.
Thiel on Monday announced plans to launch Indivisible Partners, an independent registered investment advisory firm, in early 2025. He is starting the RIA with other former Merrill executives and field leaders, most of whom had left the wirehouse at least three years ago and were semi-retired.
“We have been listening to advisors throughout our careers and continued to hear a similar theme: a fervent desire for a different model,” Thiel wrote in a post on LinkedIn. His pitch included access to coaching and support, autonomy and the ability for advisors to “own 100% of their business and gain equity ownership in a broader partnership of advisors.”
